Why I Kinda Like Summer

I am not a big fan of the sun (I am cursed with very fair white skin that burns easily), or the heat that usually accompanies the sun. I am however a BIG BIG fan of water, and summer is the best time to jump in the local river and either swim or raft. I've been doing a lot of both recently, and besides getting burned to the color of a ripe tomato it has been wonderful. :D

I am blessed to live within a tank of gas to as many as three major rivers in Oregon. Last week I went rafting twice, both over 3 hour trips. And so far this week I have been swimming three times, with another planned this evening. It helps that my immediate family has a pool as well as my aunts family. Hopefully I don't get burned out (literally) too soon. I want to enjoy all that this season has to offer!

Why baking is dangerous...

It was late one night (it always seems to happen) and I was hungry (also always seems to happen), so I decided to make biscuits. I preheated the oven and the baking started. When they were done I used a towel to remove the cookie sheet. I was being careful, but this is what happened!!

Stupid oven! Stupid baking sheet! Stupid biscuits! Stupid me and my stupid grumbling stomach!!

*Deep Sigh*

Anyways...

Being white sucks!

I am WAY too white. I spent maybe an hour outside and I am sunburned. It hurts. It has faded since yesterday, so you can imagine how bad it was. It hurts to lift my arms. :(



My cousin, Brittney, spent the same amount of time in the sun and is now brown. WTF!

Music

Music, to me, is magical. It can make anything possible. Music can open up a person's mind and heart to a world they never knew existed. Music can make you laugh, cry. It can make to fall in love. Music transports you to another place, of warm and emotion. A good piece of music, regardless of the genre, will make you think and feel.

I feel like crap

Wow. I can't believe how crappy I feel. Seriously, I am majorly depressed. I guess a lot has been going on lately. First, my cousin and my best friend are going to hook up. They already drunken made-out and are now hanging out one on one. I don't think I can hang out with them together anymore...it would be too awkward. It sucks. Also, one of my friends just got into some legal trouble regarding her abusive boyfriend. She basically had a psycotic break and I can't blame her. Her boyfriend was always berating her and telling her she should kill herself. I can't imagine loving someone and having them do that to me. Anyways, I am usually such an upbeat person. You know, class half full. But yeah...things will get better. :)

Finding an apartment is so hard to do.

I went looking for apartments today. The first one I looked at was perfect, an absolute dream. It was the perfect size(just me and my cat) and the rent is reasonable. The next couple I looked at were not so great...in fact I am getting goosebumps ust thinking about them. I filled out an application for the first one, but have to wait to hear back from the owner about my cat. Ugh. I wish moving into a new place was as simple as pic one and move, not wait forever to find out if you are worthy to live there. I guess we will see...and it does me no good to about it.

Bruce Springsteen and the Dixie Chicks

It is nothing new...celebrities using their considerable influence to voice their opinions. In 2003, The Dixie Chicks said they were ashamed that President Bush was from Texas, and people around the nation formed a boycot. For years the ladies of this country band had to fight angry threats and low record sales. Now Bruce Springsteen is being attacked for his anti-war lyrics. Let me ask you...do you think celebrities have a right to voice these opinions, as gaurenteed to them in the Consitution, or would you have them keep to themselves and leave the system of government and the structure of society unchecked?
